Port Aventura has its own rail station. trains from there to Barcelona take around 1h30mn. check http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/ingles.html for times.

Alight at Barcelona Estacio Sants, then take a short Metro ride on Line 3 to Maria Cristina or Les Corts.
The trains from Port Aventura are infrequent. Here are the times of train to Barcelona Sants:

0839 (Daily. Arrives 1000. Fare 5.95 euros)
1015 (Sat & Sun. Also Thursday 12/10. Arrives 1137. Fare 5.95 euros)
1023 (Mon to Fri, except 12/10. Arrives 1145. Fare 5.95 euros)
1145 (Daily. Arrives 1308. Fare 5.20 euros)

Return trains are as follows:
1503 (Daily. Arrives 1616. Fare 5.95 euros)
1633 (Daily. Arrives 1747. Fare 5.20 euros)
1803 (Daily. Arrives 1923. Fare 5.95 euros)
1900 (Daily. Arrives 2003. NB: EXPENSIVE! Fare 14.60 euros adult, 8.75 euros child).
1933 (Daily. Arrives 2048. Fare 5.95 euros)
2100 (Daily. Arrives 2218. Fare 5.20 euros).

From Barcelona Sants Renfe sation, transfer to the Metro Sants Estaci. Take line 5 (towards Cornella Centre) for 3 stops to Collblanc, from where the stadium is a short walk away. (Collblanc is slightly nearer to the stadium than the stations suggested by Mushroom25). The Metro fare is 1.20 euros each way but, if you're travelling into Barcelona you might as well explore the city further. A 'T-Dia' ticket give you a day's unlimitedtravel on Metro, bus and tram services within central Barcelona and costs just 5 euros.

Nou Camp is open, subject to FC Barcelona's match commitments, from 1000 to 1830 from Monday to Saturday, and from 1000 to 1400 on Sundays. Basic admission (without a guided tour) is 5.30 euros for adults and 3.70 euros for children. The guided tour costs 9.50 euros for adults and 6.60 euros for children.

thanks very much for that - it sure works out cheaper than operators tour!!
When we went to Port Aventura, we flew to Reus airport. There was a bus company waiting for the flight which took people to the 3 hotels at Port Aventura, and also took bookings for the return journey . They also handed out leaflets for day trips to Barcelona. They probably take a bit longer than the train, but may be useful if you are not very confident in Spanish. Can't remember prices. Have a good time, we stayed at the hotel El Paso, very good, have fun.
