Just booked a few days in Venice with Ryanair from Liverpool, does anyone know how far is the airport they take you to ( Treviso ) to the main sights and any good surgestions on where to stay and what to do.

I've stayed here on my 3 visits to Venice - http://www.hotelbologna.com/
it's in Mestre (opposite the rail station), which is on the mainland side of the causeway, and only a short inexpensive hop by rail from Central Venice.

It's down to personal choice, but we always stay in Venice and not on the mainland. Try looking at http://www.veniceby.com for a range of hotels.
Things to do? Apart from all the 'must see' places, take the number 1 vaparetto down the Grand Canal, go to Burano for the day, just wander anywhere - there's something to see around every corner
