Muslim Prayer Room at Windsor Castle....

Just wondering what your views are on the latest news that an office within Windsor Castle is to be used as a prayer room for Muslim staff - bearing in mind there is currently only one Muslim employee working within the Castle gift shop.

Apparently, it will still be used as an office when not being used for Prayer.

I read the story, and think its a good idea, they employed her, knowing she was Muslim, so its only right they make provisions for her.

At my work place, the Muslims who want to pray, go into an office thats been put aside for them, and, like this case, when its not being used for prayer, it reverts to its original use.

I don't see what the problem is. There's no legal requirement to provide a prayer room but it is good practice to set aside a room for prayer or contemplation. Whether the room is used by one Muslim, a dozen Christians or Jews I don't see why folk see it as a major issue.

There's far too much of this pandering for minority groups especially Muslims, are there special rooms set aside for other faiths?

When I was in the forces and we had a church parade, it would be announced before the parade started, for all other demoninations to fall out, this they did and they marched to face a wall of a bulding on the square.

I don't know what happens now, but it must be a bit of a shambles if each individual faith falls out of the majority C of E parade into their own little groups, with their own Priest, Rabbi, Cleric etc.

This is the first of many Muslims to come in the palace. Charles is in the process of conversion, after advice from a wise old oak tree and an ornamental cabbage, he is installing toilets on a revolving base, so you can face whatever direction you like, some staff have been sacked after their bums were facing towards the throne room.:-)

personally i think it is a bad thing.

we all have things we believe in and things we do on a day to day basis, but: we are not all aloud to do said things whilst in a workplace. more and more things like this pop up each week, but, what happens when a religion come to england where it is against their religion to work?

maybe our tax will go up to compensate for the benefits they will require?

i think it is about time that all groups of people within the country respected each other to the extent where they bent their own rules and not the rules of the people around them, miss a daily prayer,

50 years ago this was a majority christian country, but in the last 15 years sunday, the day of rest, has been fazed out and now it is just another day..

years ago, in america and in the uk, and in other countrys, women and "minoritys" had different rights, over the years these rights have been changed, and although this has had a good outcome, maybe its time to not make any more changes..

as said above, i enjoy a drink, why can i not drink at work?

i like to watch tv, maybe i should ask if i can have a half our out a day to watch a show i am following?

i enjoy the company of my friends relatives and my significant other, so why cant i enforce my family values and have a time in each day where i get to see or contact them for a while, in work time, just because it is what i believe in.

belive in a religion is a way of life, my childhood upbringing of a sunday meal with my family around me is a value instilled since birth, why is it that they get what they want, whereas my athough not religious belief is not catered for?

what makes anyone think that you can't go to Christian worship in Muslim countries? You can in many; the fact that there are some where you can't is down to local rather than universal intolerance.

Daave where is this non-working Religion meant to be? You may like to have a drink at work but that would impair the way you work and possibly affect the health and safety of others. You may think differently if you happened to see a bus driver knocking back a pint at the wheel.

As for seeing friends and family when you want, have you not heard of Flexitime?

For all you complain about the decline in this Christian country it's odd you don't mention yir regular attendance at yir local church...you do go don't you?

Yes, letting someone go into a room during their lunchtime to pray is just completely mad. How much madder could a thing possibly be than letting a person go into a room, pray, and then leave again. Has this country let go of its senses? etc etc bores on for days in increasingly irrational manner...

You can just imagine the scenes of chaos when this came out, can't you? It must have shaken the monarchy to its very core...
