I will be in Singapore for three days next week. I've not been there before - any ideas on the best things to see?

I recommend you visit Sentosa Island (off Singapore) - beautiful! You can go by cable car, which is absolutely out of this world. (You can also drive).
Also, Raffles is a must - to get a feel of the old Colonial days. Enjoy it!

You don't have to be a gardener to enjoy the Mandai Orchid Gardens. They're stunning:

The best way to see the harbour is by taking an evening boat trip.

As 3435anneh states, a visit to Raffle's Hotel is almost compulsory for tourists in Singapore. (Head for the Long Bar and order a Singapore Sling).

You can also take a coach tour over the causeway into Malaysia.

PS: Always check your change in hotel bars. It's illegal to give or receive tips in Singapore but bar staff seem to boost their income through the 'tips' that they receive when they 'accidentally forget' to give you your change.

Hi Lorash As Annah says Sentosa is great. There is also the night safari park and the bird park.
Most hotels will arrange the trips for youu with buses picking you up and bringing you back Rgds Al

Go throw your monkey nuts on the floor in the Long Bar @ Raffles, its a must for 1st trip to Singapore!

My recommendations for first timers are:

1. Singapore sling in the Long Bar at Raffles (is expensive but a worthwhile experience)
2. Afternoon tea in the Tiffin Room ar Raffles book at least the day before (has a dress code)
3. Boat ride around the harbour
4. Evening meal and drinks along Clarke and Boat Quay
5. Shopping along Orchid Road
6 Walk around China town
7 Walk around little india
8 Take a drink in Little Holland
9 Take the cable car to Sentosa Island
10. Eat at the 'Top of the M' revolving restaurant in the Mandrin hotel

other good visits if you have time!
Jurong bird park, night zoo, chinese gardens, Karaji war cemetery.
