Alitalia again

If I take the Alitalia from Heathrow to Malpensa 16.30 dep arr 19.30, will it give me enough time for the 21.45 long haul dep from Malpensa?

I ask because of the reported long delays at Malpensa airport and Alitalia allegedly never leaving Heathrow on time.

two hours fifteen minutes is sufficient time for your connection. any shorter would probably be not be allowed as regulated standard minimum connection time. of course if you are delayed by no fault of your own, the airline should automatically reprotect you on the next available flight or offer you compensation as they would in case of cancellation. it's a pain to go through, sure, but at least you wouldn't be stranded. think of that as worst case scenario.

who knows if they would put me in an hotel if the long haul flight conection was missed through their fault. Alitalia doesnt have the best reputation.
