shanghai to amman

i want to go from shanghai , china to amman, jordan not flying ,my question is :
what is the best transport to use, do i need visa's for the countries i will pass " i hold jordanian passport" ?

you could go by train -
shanghai to urumqi (3 days)
urumqi to almaty (3 days, runs twice a week)
almaty to moscow (4 days)
moscow to istanbul (3 days, change at ungheni, romanian border)
istanbul to haydarpasa (which is on the asian side of the bosphorus)
haydarpasa to aleppo (thursday only, takes 34hr)
aleppo to damascus (5 hours, daily)
damascus to amman (twice a week, takes most of a day)

.. there's probably an easier way than this!
