London - Hyde Park

Whats the best roads including motorways to get to Hyde Park, going by car from Birmingham. On a weekday morning.

weekday mornings is probably the worst time to try and predict which route will be "the best" for your journey. The M1 has extensive roadworks Luton - Hemel Hempstead; the M40 is largely works-free at present but leads on to the jam-prone A40 and Westway. Both routes run at capacity, so the slightest problem (breakdown, accident, etc) causes huge jams to form very quickly. Expect your journey to take at least 3 hours, probably more, even though it's only 120 miles.

Don't forget you will be liable for the Congestion Charge, and some of the highest parking charges in the country.

m40 then a40 will take you there,after 10 ish it will be fairly clear

If OP goes no further than Hyde Park he'll avoid the congestion charge - at least until the zone gets extended next year.

Could be worth parking at Hillingdon station (about a fiver, or at least it used to be) and getting the Oxford tube or Citylink coach in.

Personally, I'd advise driving to Birmingham New Street and getting the train.
alternatively, M6->M1->Edgeware Road takes you down to Hyde Park corner. Can be v.busy, but then so is the whole of London any time after about 7 am

Best NOT to drive to Birmingham New St and get the train as you are driving INTO Birmingham.

As long as you dont live WEST of Birmingham then drive to Birmingham International station (East of city near the Airport and NEC) and THEN get the train to Euston.

Or drive to Warwick Parkway, which has a large car park, and get the train to Paddington. This station is fairly new and was built for commuters going to London.

Trains from Warwick Parkway go to Marylebone. Return fare �40, or �23-50 after 08h35. 2 trains per hour, journey 1h45mn. Hyde Park is within walking distance of Marylebone.

I never said it was a short walk. But it is less than 2 miles; that's "walking distance" in my book.
