Vilamoura in the Algarve? what was it like?

Vilamoura is an area rather than a town. It has been purpose built by a private company over the last 20 or so years and lacks the genuine flavour of the older towns and villages of the Algarve. It is close to Albufeira and Quarteira. The main attractions are the superb golfing facilities, the marina and access to every sporting facility known to man. There is a pleasant beach, a casino, disco and a number of restaurants. All a bit too false and modern for me, but a wonderful place for activities and comfort if that's your cup of tea. Do yourself a favour and have a google if you want loads of info.
