I emailed the passort office about my query
"Travelling to France 23 Dec 06 due back 06 Jan 07, my passort runs out on 8 Jun 07, is this ok or do I need a whole 6 months validity"
The reply I got was :
"I am sorry but UK Passport Service are not able to issue travel advice. For travel advice please either contact the embassy of the country you are going to, or the Foreign Office whose website is located at www.fco.gov.uk."
Hmmmm really helpful then!

Found this on that website:
"Some countries have an immigration requirement for a passport to remain valid for a minimum period (usually at least six months) beyond the date of entry to the country. Therefore, ensure your passport is in good condition and valid for at least 6 months at the date of your return. This is a requirement of the country concerned, not the UK Passport Service. Any questions should be addressed to their Consulate or Embassy."

The United Arab Emirates will grant a Visit Visa to UK passport holders who have three months validity on their passport.

If you're still not certain, phone the UAE embassy on 020 7581 1281.
