New Years Eve in San Francisco

I'll be there! Any suggestions as to where I can go to see in the New Year?

Alcatraz. Missed out when I was there as hadn't pre-booked. Friends went this year and said it was the highlight of their trip.

Of course, have no idea if you can actually see in the New Year there, but don't miss it anyway.

I've been to SF twice before and done Alcatraz plus all the other "must sees". I'm gonna try and do Alcatraz at night this time, but wanted something specific to do for N.Y.E

It depends on what you want. San Francisco has a lot of great restaurants and parties. A good database for parties would be www.newyears.com, they usually have a very complete listing. You could check out www.sincitynewyears.com (or www.crawlsf.com) as well for a good option.

I would recommend staying away from the really "touristy" spots as they will most likely be really crowded and annoying. Another thing to remember: San Francisco weather can be a little crazy around NYE. I has rained most of the past few years so I would be careful about planning anything outside.
