each year our company takes away about 60 clients for a weekend skiiing - they are all from different companies and not many of them know each other. About 10 of us "workers" also get to go. But here is the dilema. We know for certain that one of the male clients is gay - so who do we room him with?? If we put him a guy - isn't that dodgy, isn't that the same as putting a straight guy with a girl?? However I can't see any of the girls volunteering. Or do we try to route out a gay girl to room with him? All the rooms are twins except for a few which are trebles - my thought would be to put him in the latter. Last thing we want is his "roomy" getting nervous!

So you think the gay guy you work wqith is a potential molester? Or worse a rapist? What decade are we in for gods sake.
I think treating him any differently to every other person on the trip would be very discriminatory. I would happily share a room with a gay person, a straight person or indeed a woman providing they didnt snore too loudly. I really dont see the dilemma, unless this person has specifically requested to be treated in isolation.
He's gay - not a monster....I'm a woman, I'd share a room..I have a bessy mate who is gay...he is fab...great at shopping....going out for a laff with...we'v kipped in the same bed...he aint gonna pounce on anyone....if he knew, the poor guy would feel alienated!!! Why would someone get nervous??
I hope you are the only person at your place of work wiyth this attitude and if not then your firm have some serious retraining to do.
FFS... Just room him with a bloke or bird with a brain....
Great answers, guys. With you all!

Hey, listen up and read the question!! It is a client that is gay, not a guy at work. Just because he's gay doesnt mean I think he is a molester. But I ( a female) wouldn't share with a guy and I wouldn't expect anyone to even think of rooming me with a guy, even tho I'm a moose to look at and in no danger of being "jumped on". My brother is gay and I know that this has caused problems for him as most people at his company don't know he's gay (he has 4 kids so I don't suppose people assume anything different) and he is wary of being put in positions like that. I may not mind sharing with some of my male friends but I certainly wouldn't share with an unknown male.
My question is honest - not homophobic
It is homophobic
Well why don't you just ask him if he's a client?? Perhaps he has a preference himself.
Well I know I said ask a daring question.... I agree with the first lot of answers and really do think if you think there will be a problem to ask him. How many people do you think you shared with on school trips may have been gay and you never knew?
Or just stick him in with the girls and they can do eachothers hair and make-up and sing Judy Garland songs all night. jeez

I see your point 4get, but these are not school kids. He is a your average, extremely nice guy. However, he told us this in confidence and has left it to us to decide. My whole point was taken from the angle that I, an ordinary straight woman, would not want to share with an ordinary straight man that I don't know. These are not a group of guys who know each other and maybe we are just thinking too deep. I just thought that the triple room was the best and wanted to see if anyone else could come up with a suggestion that would suit everyone including Geoff.
Why don't you drop out of the trip and ask the client to bring someone who is happy to share a room with him along.
well then I think if he has a problem with it maybe he should book his own room.

I answered your previous post before your latest post. So ignore the "I see your point bit". It does not refer to the Judy Garland comment
yer I gathered that :-) Would solve the problem though :-)
ali that is the worse post ever, do you think that by being gay it means that they are gonna pounce on you or something.
Honest this is just ignorance at its most.
