Aeroplane turnaround on cross-Atlantic flights
When BA or Virgin fly one of their planes long-haul, does it perform the same route over and over again or is it sent to many different locations, depending on the demands of the airline's timetable? Also, after how many long-haul flights is an aircraft routinely serviced by engineers? Driss, London

According to an ex-aircraft engineer for BA - BA and Virgin planes stay on the same route until their routine maintenance comes up, which is every 6 months. At that time they are taken out of service and every part that could possibly go wrong or wear out is replaced. Then the plane is put back into service, usually on a different route but not always.
