I am travelling to Krakow in Poland in May 07 with 4 other adults. Can anyone recommend hotels that are in walking distance to the main market/square that are of good value. I search the internet day after day but would like other travellers comments.

Thanks for that Jno ! Just had a quick price check, Blimey !!!
There are quite a few modern hotels in Krakow, Think we are looking for more traditional ones. Cheers tho !!!
Go to http://www.hostelworld.com/
Use the 'Advanced Search Options' feature and select both 'Budget Hotels' and 'Guest Houses'.

For the sample dates I've just tried, the search produced 6 hotels and 16 guest houses.

A few places have a percentage rating alongside them. This is obtained by averaging the marks awarded by visitors over the past 6 months. If there have been fewer than 6 reports, there won't be a score shown but this doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be any customer reviews.

For all places (whether or not there's an average score shown) you can read all of the reviews submitted during the past 6 months by clicking on the 'more details' link and then on the 'Ratings' tab. (i.e. for most of the accommodation on this site, you'll be able to read the opinions of other travellers).

Prices range from about 6 to about 45, per person per night.

well, I went with these people mancmo; you'll see that a short break at the Wyspianski comes out pretty cheap and the Radisson was only an extra 40 each for the whole 3 nights (because the Wyspianski was full up). Won't apply if you've booked flights separately, I guess. Anyway, it's a great place to visit.

We have stayed at Hotel Wit Stwosz at 28. Mikolajska St. each time we've visited Krakow - it's about a 5 minute walk to the Market Square, perfect location as a base for seeing the city.
It's not luxurious, is simply furnished - bed, wardrobe, table and chairs, small telly in the room with a small shower room/toilet - but it is very comfortable, warm and welcoming. The staff are excellent, - they will help to arrange any trips out of the city if you so wish - the breakfast is, again, simple (bread, cheese, meat, cereals) but enough to set you up for the day.
Double rooms are about 58.00 a night. We really like it and would always return there. Check out their website www.wit-stwosz.com.pl
