Yes, its 115V so you will get only one quarter of the heat out of it. Won't do any harm, not probably won't starighten your hair either.

Gutted!! I'm going to glamerous New York & I'm gonna have frizzy hair!! :-(
I took mine last year, and although they don't heat up as much, it wasn't far off, and I was able to straighten my hair no problem for going out!
If you saw "Watchdog" tonight you wouldn't risk taking them!
I have some Nicky Clarke straighteners with worldwide voltage and they are not expensive - around 25. Might be worth buying some just to use for trips like this..
Crikey the US runs on 110 volts. If you take over UK gear and plug it in it will basicaly blow up. <You'll have more than frissy hair!>
i used ghd in new york no problem just use an adapter - they take bit longer to heat up but were fine
They will not blow up Johnno! As memore and I said (from experience), they will work fine but will not heat up the same as over here

Oh cool... phew!!

Adapter... like a plug converter thingy? Or is it somehting different?

Might look in the the Nicky Clark ones... as need a spare to keep at work... (20 min walk + wind & rain = messy hair!)

What was Watchdog saying? Saw it a few weeks ago when they were saying people's GHDs were catching on fire... scary stuff... I still couldn't live without mine tho!
yes just an ordinary plug adapter, you can buy them at the airport.

There were reports on watchdog about a batch that blew up, but it was only a tiny percentage of the numbers sold. I'm on my third pair now and never had a problem!
Just buy an adaptor and they will work fine, just takes a bit longer to heat up thats all. and if my frizzy mop can be straightened using them in the US i'm sure you'll be fine!!
