Volunteering abroad

My long term boyfriend left me a short while ago. I've got a few months and a little bit of money to do something a bit different. I really want to do some voluntary work abroad, the change of scenery will do me the world of good. The only problem is I want to head off reasonably first thing in the new year and only go until the end of April. Does anybody know any organisations that may be able to set me up with something this quickly and for such a short period of time?

Any voluntary organisation would need to carry out background checks which would take at least 2 months.

And most are looking for 6 - 12 month assignments.

So it is doubtful you find anything suitable.
