Hi guys, do you need to have held a licence for a certain number of years before you can rent a campervan in Oz and New Zealand? By the time I go I'll have had mine for 3 years...

Thank you!

Hi Indie - you can drive in New Zealand on a full UK licence for up to 12 months. You should be able to hire a campervan provided that its on road weight does not exceed 4500kg. I think you will be ok with the fact that you have had your licence three years as the requirement to convert to a NZ full licence is a minimum of 2 years on a UK one. Hope that helps.
You need to ask the van hire company - it will be their policy, not NZ law, that decides whether you can have a vehicle. Different companies may have different rules, so don't despair if the first one says no. Age may come into it as well.

Though with 3 years I doubt if you'll have a problem.
