Anyone fancy a trip to Florida in Septmeber? HELP

PLEASE BEAR WITH ME....I'm so gutted. I booked to go to Florida on 22nd Sep this year LAST April with a so called friend. Last week she suddenly announced out of the blue that she wanted her own room - this would have cost another �315 EACH. I said no way, sorry but I can't suddenly find that sort of money and that she should have said something sooner. Also, how much time do you actually spend in your room in Orlando anyway and I would rather spend that money on other stuff including a dolphin swim for eg. She was so selfish, wouldn't back down but why should I either? I've always let people walk all over me and was determined to stand my ground. So, after 10 months of counting down and living and breathing this holiday she said she wanted to cancel - thus ending our friendship. Without going into too much detail this came completely out of the blue. My heart was set on this holiday and I'm heart-broken now. I can't believe anyone could be so mean yet she has made me feel like it's my fault for not paying up. If we have to cancel {if I can't find anyone else} she said she'll pay what I lose. We're not speaking now and we work together, it is horrible. I am stuck, what should I do?? It's not like I have tons of options of people to ask to go with me - believe me I'd love to stick 2 fingers up to her and go still. I'm so sad, I was so excited.

how silly of her ... if she is willing to pay what you lose (which will be the whole cost of the holiday) then why cant she just pay your 315 quid? I presume your part of the holiday is more than that?

No. I have spoken to Thomas Cook as I wanted to see where I stood. As I am lead name she can't do anything without me. Also, we have until July before we can cancel and it would only be the deposit which would be about �120ish. I just want the holiday more than anything, that is what is so sad. i work in a crappy job and this holiday countdown has been getting me through as I know it is something to look forward to. I don't care aboutn her now, she has totally shocked me and I've seen another side to what I though waa my best friend -she obviously wanted a way out and she has got it.

By the way...the actual holiday before all this cost about �750, we were going to buy our park tickets next month :(

Hey there cherpykez chin up I am sure that you will find somedody else to go with as you sound a realy nice caring genuing person, I would volontier (scuse spelling to go with you but dont think the wife would like that so will just tell you this to make you more determined to find somone else to go with please do not cancel as I can assure you that you will have the time of your life there have been to orlando twice now and hoping to go back again next year the theme parks have to be seen to be belived and some of the rides in the mgm studio theme park are like nothing else on this earth disney land is stunning and you must stay for the evening parade.
The last time we went we had a great big huge chrysler convertable car and drove down to daytona beach which is around 60 miles away and you can acctualy drive all the way along the long sandy beach there makes you feel like a film star.
Another must if you like this sort of thing is the wind tunnel near the water park where you can acctually simulate free falling from a plane.
Also hope you get to swim with the dolphins it is expensive but worth it have scuba dived with them in eilat and the experiance was unbeleavable.
To sum up now I hope Ihave made you feel more determined to go and stick 2 fingies up to your so called friend

Thanks for your answer but my problem is that I have no-one to go with! All my other friends are either married, have partners or are already going away so I'm out of ideas really. I'm the only single one, it is very hard. I just can't believe I've been let down yet again.

why dont you advertise on this site for a travel companion, state ground rules, approx age and female or male,interests, what you hope to do once there etc, there must be someone else who doesnt want to go alone, give it a try what have you got to loose you can always turn them down., suggest you meet up first though.

I did think about doing a proper advert somewhere - I did sort of hint in the title of this question as well!! I think I have just got to accept that I aint going unfortunately :(
