Spiritual Australia?

I'm off to Sydney for a month (mid-March to mid-April) to attend a wedding and I'm planning to do a 12 day tour going to Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Fraser and Whitsunday Islands (I will be spending the rest of the time around Sydney). I will be meeting up with 2 guy mates who have been away since last Oct and are fully into the travelling scene. One of the guys is a real party animal - drunk most nights and with a new chick each day which is fine if thats what he wants... but I've had those holidays before and have got it all WELL out of my system, i did it when I was 17 and have no desire to do it again (the other guy is a LOT more down to earth and not that way enclined). I'm looking for a more spiritual and natural way to spend my time, I'd really like to learn about the Aboriginal Culture, I want to see and learn new things, I may not get another chance to do this and dont want to get caught up in the partying. I guess it sounds kinda hippyish but I'm after new experiences*. Can anyone recommend things to do, places to go or websites I can look at?

*Actually, I dont think my partying friend will come with us when he realises I've different priorities, hehe!
