i have a passport which runs out next year, my 3 children all under 16 are still on it, does anyone know if it is still valid for travel to the algarve, passport office say i have to phone portuguese embassy because they may not let us in, but i thought i would try you lot first!!! thanks
I think you need to check with the Portuguese Embassy to be sure. The only thing I can find online are a couple of travel agents sites that suggest that both you and the kids will be OK. Hardly authoritative, given that they are undated.
Ugly_bob is right in saying that children need their own passports now (of any age - not just over 5) - you cannot get an adult passport with children added to it any more. But passports already issued with children on them remain valid until the child is 16 or they expire.
So it's up to the country you are going to as to whether such a passport is acceptable. For most it probably is - the USA is the only place that I am certain doesn't allow this.
thanks for replying....
i couldnt get to speak to anyone at the portuguese embassy, just an automated line, we did travel to spain 3 years ago on same passport,
you would think that the issuing passport office would know where we could travel to..
