Flying to dublin - passport required?

This may be a daft question but here goes, do I need a passport for flying to Dublin from either Cardiff or Bristol? If not, then what form of ID will suffice?
The only form of photo ID I have is my Bus Pass.

You don't need a passport no, but you do need some sort of photo ID, i'm not sure if your buspass has a photo on it?

The best thing to do, to be on the safe side, is phone whichever airline your travelling with and ask them.

Osprey, I would have thought yes you do, although Ireland is in the EU, it is not part of the UK and I would presume would be treated the same as flying to any European city. However, as B00 says check it out before hand, no point turning up at the airport with insufficient ID.

You do not need a passport for immigration purposes - you can travel to Ireland without one if you are a British or Irish citizen.

Your airline WILL will need a photo id of some sort. Some will accept your bus pass, some won't. Ryanair definitely will not - passport or photo driving licence only for them..
