Is the water ok to drink? I tried Cuba's water and it made me very ill.

You should alwas buy bottled water when you are in any country , other than where you live. Although it is safe for the people who live there it is not alwas safe for anyone else. It just isnt worth the risk to spoil your holiday.

In general, the British ex-colonies in the Caribbean have excellent water supplies as a legacy of British rule.

Tap water in St Lucia is maintained to UK standards. In fact, due to a lack of agricultural nitrates and pesticides, and air pollution, it's probably of better quality than you'll find throughout most of England.
It is under the supervision of Wessex water authority, and an inspector travels to the island each month to carry out quality control checks.
If you're thirsty, and see a stand pipe at the side of the road, it's perfectly safe to stop and have a drink.
