Chocolate in america

Can anyone recommend what chocolate / sweets to try when i go to the US?

I've heard of Twinkies - what are they?

well thats a lie. The only mnice ish thing is reese's peanut butter cups. EVEN THEY stretch the definition of nice i supose

Try the plain chocolate, the milk choc has a funny aftertaste.

Hostess Twinkies are small sponge cakes filled with some form of cream or icing sugar; when a friend of mine went to USA I blagged him to buy me some for when he came back, as I was also curious to find out.

I think the most famous brand of chocolate in the USA is Hershey bars.

Hershey chocolate isnt great - it doesnt compare to Mars or Cadbury, and has a sour taste

The one thing that i do love though are Reeses Peanut Butter cups, also made my Hershey, but you can get them over here too

The chocolate is pretty nasty, but try Tootsie Rolls�. I am addicted to them. The 20 I brought back with me only lasted three days, LOL! :o)

Peppermint Patties - well they're my favourite American chocolate, along with Reeces peanut butter cups (the small ones).

Stick with the doughnuts! If you are anywhere near Canada/Michigan way and can find a Tim Hortons (wonderful shops) go and eat as much of their produce as possible (much better than the vile Krispy Kreme efforts)

OK - I know it is not chocolate but real American Oreo Double Stuff cookies - wonderful and much better than the ones we get over here!!!

Chocolate - as everyone says - most is horrid - Reeses are OK but very sickly after a while. M&Ms taste the same as over here!

Avoid twinkies and chocolate at all cost. Both are horrible.
I have to agree with campbellking. The dougnuts are wonderful. My preference is Dunkin Doughnut shops. Not to be missed.

twizzlers are nice (strawberry licorice) ,Bubblicious - Watermelon Wave (bubble gum) ,jelly beans are a must too, loads of different flavours, if you like pretzels go to Auntie Anne's the cinnamon sugar ones are lovely ,A &W root beer is good ,as is mountain dew :o)

I agree the chocolate there is awful but you must if you are in New York go to Dylans Candy Bar it is like Willy Wonkas factory (well sort of!) and even sells wonka bars and cadburys its fab - think it was not far from 5th avenue cant really remember but was manhatten
