N Cyprus is so very different to anywhere else I could compare it with. The harbour is lovely, especially at night and can recomment Set fish restaurant in the centre, up a slope. You will spend more at the harbourside restaurants due to the setting but if you are happy with a fixed 3 course meal, there are loads of cheaper places to eat. Would recommend hiring a car, ideally a 4WD, and explore the island (down to the green line anyway). If you go east to the Karpas peninsula you can drive for miles without seeing anybody, just make sure you have enough petrol before setting out as garages can be few and far between. The Landmark guidebook is very good and gives some excellant routes to follow off up into the mountains, this is where a 4WD comes into its own. Take a look at Holidays Uncovered, Cyprus, Misc, Kyrenia for my, and other visitors reports.

Breezy23 Has said everything that I would have.It is a lovely place. AllI can add is that we stayed on the outskirts of Kyrenia at Bellapais Monastery holiday village. If you are seeking a peaceful holiday it is the place to stay.it is not a monastery but a small modern hotel with a few rooms in the hotel but mostly mini villas set in the grounds on a hillside. Not the place to stay if you have poor mobility as there is a lot of climbing up and down steps or slopes but fantastic views down to the coastline.we were lucky enough to have a villa at the very top.Nice little restaurant but we also dined out some evenings and Bellapais Monastery and village further up the hill was lovely at night but full of tourists during the day.All the village restaurants would send transport down to take you there of an evening. We went with Mosaic holidays and you can do a video tour of the hotel and grounds if you Google Mosaic Holidays but other people were staying with other tour operators. We will be returning.we also went in October and weather was fab.
lovely place, built round a pretty harbour. It has a museum with the remains of a ship they discovered underwater nearby from the time of Alexander the Great - about 2500 years old. Great old castles in the hills out of town, wonderful views. Very quiet, laid-back country. I think you still have to fly via Turkey to get there.
Cyprus Turkish Airlines may be able to help you getting there. http://www.kthy.net/kthyen/html/index.htm
