After reading about the $2 for every pound rate i would quite like to exchange some money however all the places ive seen are still BELOW $2. anywhere that it is at $2 for every pound??

The $2 � is the money market rate not a currency rate like you get in a bank etc.. at the moment you wont find $2 �

it'll be above $2 if you're buying pounds, below if you're buying dollars. Chances are it may go a bit higher but UK interest rates will probably rise to counter this.
You'd probably get $2 using a debit card in the US, particularly one that didn't charge you.

The tourist rate used for cash transactions is always quite a bit worse.
