Just to get you started, if you're near to Dover (or can get there cheaply) P&O ferries will sell you a return trip, on 9th May, to Calais for just 8.
Or, if you're close to Stansted (or can get there cheaply) all Ryanair flights to and from Dublin, on 9th May, are currently priced at 0.01. Adding in the taxes and charges (9.99 each way) takes the total return fare to 20.
I can probably offer further suggestions but it really would help to know where you are!

(2-part post):
Unfortunately, I think that you might be out of luck seeking cheap foreign trips. I thought that it might be possible to take an early train from Norwich to somewhere like Ipswich and pick up a coach from there. However, the coach service from Ipswich rail station (which used to be popular with travellers who took the first train from Norwich) now leaves half an hour earlier than it used to, and the train doesn't arrive in time.
I've also checked every coach operator I can think of in Norfolk and Suffolk but there just doesn't seem to be anything suitable on offer. (I've actually been driving around coach offices in Ipswich and Stowmarket, to read the programmes displayed in their windows, so I think that my researches have been fairly thorough!).
I've checked FlyBe's website but there are no flights suitable for day trips from Norwich.
Dublin seemed to be a possibility from Stansted - the return fare is 20 - but you don't get very long there. You can arrive in Dublin at 1050 if you take the train to and from Stansted, with a return fare of 28.30, but you have to fly out of Dublin at 1725. Allowing time for the journey into the city centre and the check-in time for your flight back, you'd only have a few hours there. You can arrive in Dublin earlier at 0925 if you use National Express to Stansted, but that means leaving Norwich at 0355. You still have to be on the 1725 flight back and you then have a 2 hour wait at Stansted.

I think that you might have to restrict yourself to this country. You can get a day's unlimited rail travel (after 0845 Mon-Fri or anytime at weekends or Bank Holidays), throughout East Anglia, for just 11. Even better, you can travel on any 3 days out of 7 for just 23. (If you've got children travelling with you, they go for just 2 each, whether it's for one day or for three):

(If you need suggestions about where to go in East Anglia, just ask. Real ale pubs a speciality!).
Alternatively, why not explore London? At the moment, 'One' are offering a single fare to Liverpool Street, on 9th May, for just 11 on all morning trains from 0800 onwards. (The 0800 service arrives at 0956). If you return at 2130 (arriving back at 2327), the single fare is just 6, so that's a total of 17 return. (If you wanted to return slightly earlier, it would cost you an extra fiver). An off-peak Zone 1&2 One Day Travelcard (giving you unlimited travel on buses & tubes within central London) costs 5.10.
If you need suggestions for some of the great free attractions in London, just ask. (I can also recommend a restaurant, in Covent Garden, which serves a really good 3 course lunch for just 7.50).
I'm sorry I couldn't find any cheap foreign travel offers but I hope that something here might be useful to you. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if you want any further information.
