Hostels

My boyfriend and I am taking a three day trip to New York, but are looking to do it cheaply because don't exactly have a lot of money. We are looking for a hostel, but they kind of freak us out and we would rather have our own private room but we don't mind sharing a bath. I've noticed it's very hard to find one where two people can share a double bed. Does anyone know of any that do or any super, super cheap hotels in the city, preferably in Manhattan? THANKS!
