I mean why does the outward journey N manchester to leeds in the morning take an hour when the return journey in the evening (both in rush hour and with a high volume of traffic) takes only half an hour?

Surely they should be the same, because vehicles commuting to leeds, they should be communting back again and cause the same volume of traffic?
