i am travelling to turkey with my son of 15 years, we travel on the 3rd of june and return on the 17th june, his passport runs out on the 10th of july, as a british citizen is he able to travel to turkey or do we have to renew his passport?

the website just says it's 'advisable' to have six months left on your passport, which isn't much help. You could try calling them to check what the latest situation is, or go ahead and renew. (Any spare time left on his old passport will be credited to the new one)

The British Foreign Office website says that your passport has to be valid for six months upon entry.
