uk passports
Me, My Boyfrined and my son are going on holiday in August. This is his first time abroad he is 26 he applied for a passport in april and has had it sent back twice. first time was because the countersigniture was wrong the second time because they want proof of address for 3 years and it has to be a letter addressed to them by either your bank, mortgage advisor dwp and so on.
it has caused no end of stress for our family as the holiday is paid for but we may be unable to go. The security surounding uk passports is totally unfair to the genuine brittish citizens who are applying for them. we sent the request to the dwp at the end of april and only just received their response now it only covers two years not three? does this mean he is unable to obtain a brittish passport that he is entitled to?

The tax office will have been in touch too, I know my son is 25 and not working claiming jobseekers, but he has letters from them every few months giving changes in benefit, it pays to keep things, though telling you that now is no help. but surely he was on the electoral roll, what about getting one of those credit reports based on addresses, they are cheap and list the length of time a person has been at an address.
thanks for replying. they say they wont accept, pay slips, bank statements, council tax statements and any previous letters addressed to him. the company you get the letter from has to have known you for three years we have recently moved so the doctors, work ,dentist and landlord cant do it as he has not been known to them for that time. plus the letter has to be todays date addressed to them confirming over past three years that they have know him and any address he has been known from.
we have just found out his bank can do it but charge 10 looks like we will have to pay this as there is only 12 weeks left and time is running out. we just hope he wont be called for an interview delaying the process further.
advice for anyone planning a holiday don't delay with applying for your passport as you could be disappointed trust me iv had sleepless nights for six weeks
