Got knocked off my bycycle

I got knocked of my bycycle by a car 4x4 I was going over the old mediveial bridge which is Bycycles And Buses only as the bridge was built for horse and carts and cant take the weight of loads of cars was closed to all traffic for years but then re-opened to buses and bikes only just a bus every now and then goes over it and cycles but cars just ignore the sign and go over but the driver of 4x4 who hit me said they can go over the bridge they have right to are they right or do they just want to take the shortcut .

I did not get the reg plate of the 4x4 as it was a custom one you cant read with a funny joined up style font with swrills and all that
