Does anyone commute (by car) between Glasgow and Edinburgh? I'd like to know how long it takes (roughly) to drive from Glasgow's West End into Edinburgh during rush hour along the M8.

I suppose the answer is how long is a piece of string. From the West End your not too far away from the M8 at Charing Cross to start with and then it's just the 40 miles or so to Edinburgh.....It's been a while but I would allow for a minimum of 90 minutes mostly for waiting time at the start and end of the journey, though I have done the trip in a lot lot less on my bike at night :>)
Just over an hour along the M8. The problem is finding a parking space!

Any recommended parking sites near the University on Teviot Place??
monty - not really: it's all permit parking. Teviot is by an NCP car park in front of Bristo Sq. Alternatively you might be able to park over the other side of Clerk St (3 min walk)
(and the easiest way is just to take the train into Waverley)
yeah , get a train . every 15 minutes from queen st station .

Thanks for all your answers. The train is not an option as it is just too expensive when I'll only be in Edinburgh for a couple of hours. Handy to know an NCP car park is near the university. Cheers!!!!!!
