Firstly, if possible, travel by Eurostar (rather than flying) and take as much luggage as you can with you. Eurostar allow you to take two pieces of 'average suitcase-sized' luggage (with no weight limit but not longer than 2m) and one piece of hand baggage, without charge. Additional bags, up to 30kg, are charged at just 12 each. (That's far cheaper than any airline or shipping company would charge).

For items you can't take with you, try UPakWeShip:

Look in your Yellow Pages under 'Freight Forwarders'. You are looking for someone that does groupage to Paris. You will have to ask for a price including pick up and delivery, but be warned, pack everything very, very well. Your belongings will go on a truck and will be handled several times prior to delivery. I used to haul for Davies Turner. They have depots from Cumbernauld in Scotland down to Bristol, Southampton and Dartford in the South. Heres their site

If I remember correctly, Paris is a daily service.
i wonder if you might find it easier/cheaper to hire a largeish car and go over by eurotunnel, then drive the car back
