uk theme parks
Hello everyone, I have a 13 yr old sister and a 16 yr old cousin who I am taking to a uk theme park this summer. Bearing in mind their ages could anyone recommend one that would be suitable, we also want to stay overnight in the park. Many thanks.

There are loads of white knuckle rides at Alton Towers, but of course it does get VERY crowded in the summer and you are likely to spend about 4 hours queueing for about 4 minutes of rides.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is also a huge park with plenty of rides. And of course being Blackpool it has plenty of places to stay.
There are other parks of various sizes all over the UK, and you can find a few web sites that list them all.
I am not sure many have hotels on site.
Here are some web site that lists the parks:

I think Chessington has become far better than Alton Towers over the past few years. It's owned by the same company I believe but appears to have had more money plouged into it than Alton Towers has (just my opinion). It also has a zoo and, although it has as much to offer as Alton Towers, it's smaller in size (not so much walking from one section to another). Also, location means that there are plenty of places to stay overnight. We travelled up to Alton Towers a couple of years ago and stayed in a cheapy motel at Uttoxeter (I think it was a Comfort Inn or something like that) for 40 for four of us (family room). Very basic but clean and tidy - served its purpose well.
Of course, if you go to Chessington and stay overnight, you could always do another Theme park the next day (Thorpe Park, Legoland etc). Look out for money off vouchers - go on their websites. There are so many offers around there should be no need for you to pay full price for everyone to get in.

I stayed in the Splash Landings hotel based in Alton Towers last year and had a really great time. I took my niece who is 13 and she really enjoyed it too. We spent the first day in the theme park and then the next day in the indoor water park in the hotel. I booked it really late so got a great deal. Although the theme park does get busy during the summer, with our hotel booking, they also gave us some passes which allowed us to jump a lot of the queues.
I have been to Thorp Park and Alton Towers and I was not that impressed with either of them. I found them a bit pricey (for everything) and the queues were horrendous, just when you think you are getting to the top of a queue, you turn a corner and there is another million people infront of you:-o(
Personally I would advise Blackpool Pleasure Beach (I love blackpool so forgive me for being bias). But its not just the pleasure beach, you have the whole town at your disposal and if you are staying overnight you can please yourself in the evening. People say it is tacky but if it is, that doesn't bother me!
What ever you decide I hope you all have a great time and if you go for Blackpool, can I come?????
