I was in the Black Forest with the army. Unlike any British forest, you can drive through it for days, the branches coming over each side of the roads, forming a tunnel. It is dark. At night I slept on the forest floor. The whole forest floor came alive with hundreds of little black mice. As soon as you made a slight move, they all disappeared in a fraction of a second with a rustle of leaves. If you kept quiet and still, they all came out again. Local sights include the Hangloch Waterfall, St Blasien health resort and Staufen Im Breisgau, home of Dr Faust. As for hotels, I can't help you I'm afraid. If I were you I'd get brochures from a travel agent or check out websites.
