How far from amsterdam airport to city centre

I am looking to stay near the central station does anyone know what it cost in a taxi to get from and to there or can you get a train?

Like Ronnie Blue says - get the train. Couldn't be easier - just follow the signs to the train station, the ticket machines are set up for various languages, including English, the tickets are cheap (esp. compared to London!!) then follow the departure boards to the platform. The jourrney should take between 20 and 25 minutes

As they all say, train dead easy. Have you got your hotel near the station? If not, try the Frisco Inn. Spot on. They have a website.

Another vote here for the train! Try the Hotel France - 3 mins walk from Centraal Station on the edge of the red light district, loads of bars and restaurants nearby, and good value for money. This site is useful: http://www.easytobook.com
