There are no restrictions in terms of quantity

You may have to prove (in either direction) how you came about the money and it can be seized if customs don't believe you.
All restrictions regarding taking money abroad were got rid of in this country in about 1979. There are no restrictions on taking money into Canada, except if you want to take a LOT of money

However, as dzug says you may have to prove how you came about the money.

Thanks dzug and spudqueen. I'm not thinking of taking anywhere the declarable amount - just enough to live on for a month.
