I hate flying. What i hate most is the sensation that you are forced into your seats when the plane takes off and your stomach sinks as the plane sort of drops, like in a lift. I hate it, i'm convinced that this pressure cant be good for your body and i will have a heart attack or pass out. Can anyone convince me otherwise?

Well I can't really convince you, most people will admit that they don't like really flying, it's just something you have to put up with if you want to go out of the country.

Just think of all the pop stars and other celebs (like the Beckhams) who must spend half their lives on planes, you don't hear of many of them having heart attacks, do you?
I am also terrified of flying although I do fly long haul as I love to travel!
I also hate the sensation of the plane "dropping" and feel like crying whenever there is turbulance. I researched on the internet how a plane flies and what turbulance is. This helped me a lot as it put my mind at ease. Have a look at some websites and do a bit of research, it might help!
It's just due to acceleration. Small amounts of it like you experience aren't bad for you.

Larger amounts are.

You'll be fine. It's only the same as driving round a bend in a car, just perhaps a little more force.
What steps have you taken to distract yourself from the situation? Most people read a book or a magazine (?) but I use an mp3 player. One day, I hope to get noise-cancelling headphones as well (helps with this situation but also loud passengers and screaming kids!).
that is what i love about travelling by air ,the sensations of a big fairground ride,it's so dam boring on a smooth flight,
The takeoff effect is simply g-force, but I doubt it gets that much about 1G. When you get to about 3.5G or so then you risk blacking out....but that's a lot more than your average 747 could manage.

The landing effect is basically a very light version of what you've get going into space (very, very light version), but if you go on a rollercoaster you'll experience a lot worse. I think people who get travel sick tend to feel this much more.

if you want to know why they drop so fast - sit outside Heathrow and you'll see them dropping rapidly in long lines. Need to drop a lot of height very quickly, but still avoid the houses.
dont fly then you jobby.
