Does the Accadamia in Florence need to be booked in advance? If so, whats the cheapest way to do it, by phone or online?

Unlike the Uffizi, you should not have to queue for too long to get into the Accademia, especially in the afternoon. Be aware that it and all the state museums are closed on Mondays.

Thank you.
I have rang them and booked 3 tickets (one is free as my dad is 65) and the total comes to 29 Euros.
I have been given a reference number and told to head to gate 3 on the day, 10 mins before the time.
Does this make sense?
