I wasin Kenya in January and my friend in the June before. We both certainly did get the injections that we were advised to get by our GP - cant remember them all as had had some previously for Egypt but they will advise you. Certainly make contact with them 6-8 weeks before travelling. We also had to go to an independant clinic for a Yellowfever injection and were given a certificate which we did have to show if I remember rightly either leaving Kenya or entering the UK on our return. We took anti malaria tablets, my friend was recommended malerone and she and others on our resort had quite upset tummies, my nurse advised I took Doxycycline as she had them previously. You had to take them for a longer period on your return but I had absolutely no problems with them. Of course who knows if any of these things are actually required but I felt I needed to take the advice of those in the know. With regards to Visa we were going to arrange ours before we went but were advised just to wait until there. I would certainly do this again if going as although there was quite a big queue it really was no bother and as we were travelling with a tour party after that we would have had to wait on everyone else anyway. I do hold a British passport that if you dont perhaps it may be different for you. At time of myself and my friends holidays the weather was very hot and although we experienced some rain even when we were out on Safari we did not feel we required jackets or anything. Definately take some mosquito spray too. Happy to help with anything else if I can.
