Want to change sterling to Francs. In April, M&S were quite good, but does anyone have any tips as to the best company at the present time?

I went to the post office for mine a few weeks ago. it was 0% commision...
Where are you going anyway?
don't you mean euros?
Going to Switzerland??

I mean Euros! I'm showing my age. Am whizzing to France for a week, can't wait. It was between M&S and PO last time we went, so looks a good bet.
dont be caught out by 0% commission. It generally means the exchange rate will not be so competitive (no one does something for nothing!) If you are likely to have any to change back to sterling its worth considering that rate on purchase as thats also another area that can cost you dearly.
If you are going to get them in person, and are buying on the hiugh street, the exchange rate is usually the same in most travel agents and the PO has never given a better rate for Euro's.

M&S are 0.02 better than the PO at the moment of posting

Tiscali Money says the latest exchange rate is 1.38

To sell back the rate is (was last week) 1.61

All much of a muchness

Why faff around changing money in England? Any changer in England will inevitably scalp you.

For the best rates, just take your money out of an ATM when you arrive. It's so simple.

Yes I have heard about getting it abroad as well but always got this sinking feeling that it may swallow my card, never to be seen again! Thanks for all your advice. Merci!
