Do I need to display a 'GB' sticker on my car when driving in Southern Ireland?

The legal situation is, unless you have a new 'European style' number plate which has the Euro flag and GB on it, you should display the GB sticker.
Ireland welcomes tourists and its unikely you will have any problems without the sticker, but should a copper want an excuse to pull you over ....
Tommy - Why is it pedantic? Kos is talking about the Republic of Ireland, I presume. 'Southern Ireland' suggests the southern part of the country, e.g., Kerry, Cork, Waterford. Also, why 'Eire'? That is an Irish word. Nobody speaking in English would ever dream of referring to Deutschland, Espana or Belgique. Phew, got that off my chest!
