me amd my hubby went to cyprus for 3 weeks over xmas and new year. we loved the warm weather and thought about renting out their for 6 months during our winter then coming home for our summer. then i thought about spain or tenerife, has ayone out there done this or has any one got any opinions , would like to have anyones views on this, would just like to go somwhere warmer for the winter. but not too hot. thanks for any replys
I am really jealous would love to do the same. I have family in Tala near Paphos. The temps in August can reach the high 50s low 60s and considering they live 1500 feet up you can just imagine how hot it is on the coast. However in winter it can get quite cold and snowy on high ground. It can also rain heavily which the Cyproits are grateful for but this year there has been very little.Saying all that it can't be any worse than this country!
Don't forget to check your house insurance. Most insurance companies will void your house insurance if the property is unoccupied for 30 days, so you may need a 'special' rate, or find a lodger!
we have a house in cyprus and in the 28 yrs i have been going have never, ever seen or heard of the temp in the 60s and very rarely in the 50s either, high 30s and early 40s yes.
I'm with you, Norman; low 40s on the coast is about as high as it gets. Where in Cyprus is your property? We're up in the Troodhos, 3000ft above sea level. It does get pretty chilly in the winter -though still warmer than UK - and although it gets quite hot in the summer there's always a breeze to freshen things up.
