thanks jno
My daughter (doctor) and her partner (recruitment) both went out in Nov 2006 on one year visas. A few months later they applied for residency and had no problems. It does cost money though. Now they are happily married, living in their own home near Auckland and thoroughly enjoying it.

Ignore scoobydooby's answer. I;ve visited them twice since they went and NZ is a wonderful country. Hope I can retire there.

Good luck.
