Usually the ship has a small range of clothes, presumably lost property which they lend to you. They may also provide free hire of formal wear. Other passengers are generally very helpful in lending clothes. Hardly the same as having your own stuff! Luggage usually arrives at the ship within 2 or 3 days of the cruise departing, although I have known it to take longer.
Thanks for your reply.Yes the ship does carry some clothes(formal to borrow but they are not always suited to people over a certain size.On both occasions our luggage was not delivered until day 7 of both cruises. Can you imagine if the cruise had only been for a week.Anybody considering a fly cruise that involves a connection from Schipol or Charles De Gaul, forget it as this is where the problem begins, and depending on the itiniry of the cruise your luggage can follow you all around the med before it finally catches up with you.Incidently both cruises were with COSTA,and there were very few english speaking guests who we could have turned to for help. Those we did meet, were not sympathitic to our plight, and did not offer us anything at all.
Went on a cruise from San Juan and flew via Atlanta. We had to collect our luggage at Atlanta and hand them in to baggage handlers some 20 foot away who immediately put them on another conveyor belt. When we arrived at San Juan, only one of three cases turned up. This was on Xmas day and when we finally got to the hotel (Sheraton) at 11pm they said don't worry! Easily said. No mini bar in room, hotel bar was already closed so some Xmas day and rotten start to a cruise, however our bags and those of other unfortunate passengers all turned up by 5 in the morning. Perhaps we were lucky after all but I wouldn't want to go thru that again. We always pack splitting things up so at least if only one case turns up we've both got something of everything, we could have got by but it would have really spoilt everything.
Yes breezy 23 it would have spoilt everything. My wife and i ranted and raved for a week on our cruise and just wanted to go home. They said we could leave the ship but would not do anything to help us with flights home etc.We are going on a Princess cruise shortly from Miami and we have an indirect flight into Chicago.Any one else had this flight from Manchester and did you get your cases?
