If you mean in liquid form, the maximum quantity for any liquid is 100ml (about one sixth of a pint).

If you mean in dried form, yes you can take it in hand luggage but I can't think why you'd want to!

Might it not depend where you are taking it? Some countries do not allow plant material in meaning your tea would be a prohibited substance.
That's a valid point from Now-Voyager. You can take your tea and coffee (in the form of leaves, beans, powder, granules/etc) to anywhere within the EU but attempting to take it into, say, Australia could lead to confiscation and possible arrest.

I thought so. I remember seeing a programme about the NZ customs who are very hot on this sort of thing. One woman was facing a large fine for trying to take an orange in!!

Thanks for your answers....... to make it clearer i intend to take coffee granules and tea bags, this is because they have no coffee/tea making facilites in the hotel, and being english i need my cuppa in the morning! Flying United airlines to the states. Any more detailed answers would be very welcome, thanks in advance.
I seem to remember that Brits trying to get tea into America sparked a war back in 1773 ;-)

However, you shouldn't have any problems taking tea bags and coffee granules into the USA.

Chris, I always take tea ,coffee and sugar in my hand luggage. It's essential for self catering accommodation and that first cuppa when you arrive, especially if it's late at night.
