extending a holiday

Has anyone ever wished to extend a holiday booked through a tour operator before going?

We had booked 7 days but now fancy increasing to 10 - is this possible?

If the holiday destination is via a charter flight it is not likely to yield much joy because the flights operate in weekly blocks.
