Does anyone have details of Shipping companies carrying passengers to Australia, other than cruise ships.

No but putting on my Michael Palin hat try going for container ship companies I know some of them take a small number of passengers?

It can be done but it may cost more than conventional cruises. Passenger freighters charge about �70 to �90 per day. With the journey from Tilbury to Melbourne taking 32 days, you're looking at around �2500 for a one-way trip:
