Essentials when holidaying with children

OK, the time has come to take my 2 year old boy and 4 month old daughter to Sicily at the end of July.

I am looking for advice of what essential I need to take for them as this seems daunting to me and I want to be prepared.

high factor suncream , hat buggy , parasol for buggy , life jacket type swim aid for toddlers, first aid kit with all the usual calpol , diorear tabs ( i know ) and any other creams platsers.

Thats a good basic start.

pushchair, lie flat or pram for baby.
hats
suncream
small first aid kit with insect repellent, calpol, plasters, rehydration sachets etc.
sterilising equipment for babys bottles. Take cold water sterilising tablets and use a large bowl with lid.

Start making a list, you'll find that things come to you over a few days. Keep the list handy to jot down anything you think of over the next few weeks, then use it to pack, ticking things off as you pack them. I always did this when my children were small, even putting camera, films, batteries etc on the list so I forgot nothing!

it's going to be hot (I was there last week and it was then). Smother them in sun cream, keep them irrigated, try and have a siesta.

rollon insect repellant from Boots, use at least thrice daily, ask pharmacist what repellant is suitable for a 4month old baby and take a spray for the room, spray room everytime you are going out and especially in the evening because a child with a mosquito bite/s will scream all night.
Sun cream factor 25+ suitable for children and find a supermarket and buy lots of botted water to carry with you.
Italians love bambinos you will be fine once you get there.dont forget sunhats for all the family[ you can buy there] and a sunshade for the buggy[ take with you]
