I am going to Gran Canaria in September flying from Newcastle and wondering if it is ok to take sandwiches, crisps etc from home on to the plane as we are not getting in flight meals and do not want to buy much at the airport as too expensive. Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

Hi, I always take a little something in my hand luggage and it has never been a problem before.
most airports have a 'Boots' store once you are through security and they do inexpensive Meal Deals and you could buy a sandwich there. I have had crisps and sweets in my bag but not sandwiches so cannot say for definite it would be ok.
The last 2 times we have flown with Thompson long haul and I've bought loads of goodies from M and S, refusing to eat the rubbish you pay for...we've had salads, fruit, sandwiches, yoghurts etc...the only thing you can't get until you go past security is drinks. Hope that helps.

Agree with all that's been said. Went last year and took a "packed lunch" - no trouble at all. Once bought a "sandwich" on an Iberian flight, cost an arm and a leg and was rubbish. Go for it - have a great trip
