Parking Ticket - Road markings.
4 Answers
I recently got a parking fine 30 for parking outside a mates house. I had popped in for 10 minutes. It was in a residents parking zone, but this was at 9pm, and there were plenty of optional spaces available. Anyway, I feel aggrieved, I am going to pay the fine, but I want to know what the legal sizes of the white road markings should be, the gaps between them, width etc., should the sign and post be any particular height or distance from the kerb? Any help would be appreciated in ` the saga of the Parking Ticket - one piece of paper too many` .

I intend to pay the fine, I want to know the legal requirements encumbent on the local council when marking out the bays, etc., as an aside, the area I parked in has always been a very quiet, traffic free area. Even at night there are spaces. The residents only parking came about because a large percentage of the local council staff used the street and its surroundings to park their cars every day. The residents could not park outside their houses and then asked for a residents only area. Now they have the area, the council staff park in another area of the town, up two local hills to busy housing estates, causing no end of problems for locals. It is still being investigated by the local hacks.
if you intend to pay the fine, showing that you are aware you were in the wrong, why bother researching road markings??? what are you trying to achieve?
Whether the spaces are being used or not, or if the residents are able to park near to their own space, it makes no difference. Why didnt YOU park in one of the other spaces?
Its like people parking infront of people drives "oh im only gonna be 5 mins"....so what!?!
I would also like to know which council sends out parking attendants at 9pm!?!
